DEBATE CLUB

Students will select debate topics they find appealing, and learn the art of persuasion. Students will work in rotating groups and practice their debating skills in a supportive environment, including developing arguments, issuing rebuttals, providing examples, rebuilding their case and summarizing points of view. Students will learn to think on their feet and enhance their public speaking skills, gaining self-confidence in the process. **PLEASE Note: This club is structured as 3 independent and different modules to be offered year-round (preferred) or individually in the fall, winter or spring.

KIDS ON CANVAS

Grab a paintbrush and jump right in for a colorful Kids on Canvas adventure! Use acrylic paint to explore painting subjects such as the figure, landscape and still life - with a fresh Abrakadoodle twist! We use our imaginations and inspiration from a different artist each week to create with paint in a variety of ways!

MINECRAFT: CREATIVE BUILDING

Spawn into a world of endless possibilities! Join us for a fun-filled Minecraft adventure where your child will learn to build, design, and engineer their way to endless creativity. In this class, your child will learn essential Minecraft/Gaming skills, including building techniques, spatial reasoning, block physics, and a taste of redstone engineering! Children will have a blast building their dream home, creating 2D art, cobblestone towers using lava, animal farms and more! This class is fun for children of all levels, from beginners to experienced Minecraft players. No device needed! Join us and let your child's imagination soar!

CHESS

Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy (formerly Magnus Chess Academy), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. With plant-forward, nut-free recipes and accommodations for allergies, our classes are a perfect fit for all ages. GET LOOPY CROCHETING CLASS

Crocheting is not only a relaxing hobby, but it also helps children deal with stress and coping in stressful situations. It is great for children that deal with anxiety and helps tune the fine motor skills of the children. It is also a fun hobby to learn. In this class, the children will start with a scarf in the Fall and Winter, and a small blanket in the Spring and Summer. Children will learn the different techniques of crocheting. There is an age restriction on this class, however, this class can be tailored to fit all age groups. For the smaller age groups, the techniques used will be more of weaving than crocheting.

SCIENCE: POTIONS & EXPLOSIONS!

Let’s have fun with Chemistry! In this program, we will create “magic” potions and exciting chemical reactions that will blow your mind. Erupt a volcano, make indoor snow, grow crystals, blast a rocket into the air, and more. We will learn about the states of matter and how things change with mixtures, solutions and chemical reactions. Join us to channel your inner Professor Snape!

ULTIMATE UKULELE CLASS

Our budding musicians will participate in musical instruction and theory as well as musical games, special extension curriculum based activities, musical listening excerpts, related projects and more!

Rental Instruments and Music Provided! Students will take instruments and music home in between classes to enjoy. A rental agreement must be signed and instruments must be returned in the same condition at the last scheduled class date. Parents will be responsible for the return cost and/or replacement of any unreturned/damaged instruments.
